About SDA

The Spirit of Dark Art (formerly known as Etsy Dark) was formed in the Summer of 2006 by Ahna, to help classify dark and alternative art at Etsy.com. Street teams for each state had already been started on Etsy but SDA was the first team to be catagorized by theme. Today, there are about 20 themed street teams on Etsy; from jewelry to a team of Moms.

The Spirit of Dark Art has several talented artists specializing in Classical Gothic, Fantasy, Bohemian, Earth based and alternative art.

Thank you to Triplelle for our great slogan, "Crafting Past Midnight".

And I'd personally like to thank my team for all the support they have given me this past year.

Joining SDA

Member Participation Requirements:

1. Your store must contain 12 items and be of Dark art - a term that means a variety of styles such as: Gothic, Fantasy, Abstract, Bohemian, Earth Based, Surrealism, Psychedelic, with a hint of Punk and Rocker! Your items will be checked for quality and originality. We reserve the right to refuse membership as we see fit. We are not gore or horror.

3. Be present at 1 group chat per month, held at Etsy.

4. There is an entrance fee of $10. Monthly fee is $5.00 for advertising fund, to be determined by group. Payments are due at the 1st of every month.

5. Failure to pay dues and participate in group activities will result in banner removal from the website without notice. This does not mean you are off the team. Paying the $5 does not buy you a spot on the website, participation does. Please set aside 30 minutes per week to do any of the following:

Promotional Activities:
- Check into the Yahoo group, let me know you are active.
- Blogging about Spirit in your personal blog.
- Writing an article for the SDA blog, let Ahna know of news worthy events like fairs.
- Making a Treasury list.
- Distributing SDA post cards, in sales packages, at fairs or bulletin boards.
- Include http://SpiritofDarkArt.com in your shop description.
- Mail or e-mail your customers the SDA post card.
- Upload your membership card to your item listings.
- Help keep the SDA topic active in the Etsy forum by posting to it.
- Give to SDA charity events.
- Wear a SDA t-shirt (ask Ahna).
- Participate and promote in SDA sales events.
- Recommend other members items at social shopping sites such as StyleFeeder / Stylehive.
